Costs & settling up

Costs tracks shared spending and works out who owes whom at the end — no spreadsheet needed.

Adding an expense

Add an expense for something you paid for on behalf of the group:

• Description — "Ferry to Barra", "Big shop at Tesco";
• Amount — in the adventure's currency;
• Category — Transport, Food, Accommodation, Gear, Permits or Other;
• Date;
• Split between — tick the people who should share it.

You're recorded as the person who paid. If someone else paid, ask them to add it themselves.

The expense is split equally between the people you tick.

Who's included in splits

You can split costs between members who have an account and haven't said Can't Go. People who haven't joined yet, and emergency contacts, can't be included.

Settling up

The summary shows:

• the total spent and the cost per person;
• each person's balance — how much they're owed or owe;
• suggested settlements — who should pay whom, and how much.

When someone has paid their share, mark it as settled.

Currency

Every expense uses the adventure's currency, which the organiser sets in adventure settings. If you paid in a different currency, convert it before adding the expense.

Who can do what

• Organiser and people who are Going: add and edit expenses.
• All members: see every expense and the settlement summary.
• Visitors to a public adventure: can see expenses and amounts — bear this in mind before making a trip public.
