Setting up an adventure

Create an adventure, what each field does, and what to do first.

An adventure is one trip. Whoever creates it becomes its organiser (shown in the app as the owner) and is automatically marked as going.

Create the adventure

From your dashboard, click Create Adventure and fill in the form. Only the name is required — you can add or change everything else later.

FieldWhat it's for
Adventure name (required)What everyone will see, e.g. "Three Capes Walk" or "Mingulay 2027". Up to 200 characters.
Activity typeHike, climb, paddle, ski — whatever describes the trip.
LocationWhere you're going. Shown on the overview and in the trip pack.
DescriptionA short summary of the trip for the overview.
Start and end datesTick Single day event for a day trip. The itinerary and meal plan get one slot per day between these dates.
CurrencyThe currency for all costs on this trip. Starts on the default currency from your settings (AUD if you haven't chosen one).
Cover imageA JPEG, PNG or WebP photo up to 5MB, shown across the top of every page.
Who can join?Whether anyone with the link can join, people must ask first, or it's invite only. Defaults to Anyone with the link. See Controlling who can join.

Click Create Adventure. You'll land back on your dashboard with the new trip under Adventures I Created.

Get it ready to share

Before you send the link round, it's worth spending five minutes on these:

  1. Write a trip brief. On the overview, click the pencil icon to open the adventure settings and fill in Trip Brief — meeting point, what to expect, fitness level, kit essentials. It appears as a card on the overview and at the top of the trip pack. See Adventure settings & sections.
  2. Set an RSVP deadline so people know when you need an answer.
  3. Switch off sections you won't use. Doing a day hike with no shared meals? Turn off Meals and Costs to keep things simple.
  4. Check who can join. If the link is going into a big group chat and you want to approve people first, switch to Ask to join.
  5. Add a few itinerary days or ideas so people have something to look at when they arrive.

Share it

On the overview you'll find the Share Adventure Link box. Copy the link and paste it into WhatsApp, email or wherever your group talks. You can also invite specific people by email. Both are covered in Inviting people.

Common questions

Can I change the dates later? Yes. Itinerary cards and meals stay attached to their day number, so if you move the start date, day 1's plans move with it.

Can I hand the adventure over to someone else? Not at the moment — each adventure has one organiser. If you need to step back, a confirmed attendee can still edit almost everything; see Roles & permissions.

Can I reuse an old trip as a starting point? Yes — clone it.
