Inviting people
Share the adventure link, invite people by email and send RSVP reminders.
There are two ways to get people into your adventure. Most groups use both: the link for the group chat, and email invites for anyone who isn't in it.
| Share the link | Invite by email | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Group chats — WhatsApp, Messenger, Slack | Specific people, people who aren't in the chat, emergency contacts |
| Who can use it | Anyone you (or they) pass it to | Only the person you invited |
| Affected by Who can join? | Yes | No — people you invite always get in |
| You can choose their role | No — they join as an attendee | Yes — attendee or emergency contact |
Sharing the adventure link
Every member sees a Share Adventure Link box on the overview. Click Copy Link and paste it wherever your group talks.
What happens when someone opens it depends on your Who can join? setting:
- Anyone with the link (default) — they sign in or create an account and are added to the adventure straight away, as Invited. They then RSVP.
- Ask to join — they sign in and send you a request. You approve or decline it.
- Invite only — the link doesn't let anyone new join. Existing members can still use it to open the adventure.
Inviting someone by email
Only the organiser can do this.
- On the overview, open Manage Attendees.
- Click Add Member.
- Enter their name and email address, and choose a role:
- Attendee — someone coming on the trip.
- Emergency contact — someone at home who should be able to see the plan. See Managing attendees & RSVPs.
- Click Add Member.
What they receive depends on whether they already have an AdventureForge account:
- They already have an account — they're added straight away and get an email saying so. The adventure appears on their dashboard under Invitations & Maybe.
- They don't have an account yet — they get an email with a Join the Adventure button. It opens a page where they can create their account in one step and land straight in the adventure. After adding them you'll also see their personal invite link with a Copy button, in case you'd rather send it yourself.
People you invite by email always get in, whatever your Who can join setting.
Personal invite links
The link in an invite email (/join/…) belongs to that one person. Anyone who has it can use it to claim that place, so only send it to the person it's for. Once claimed it stops working for anyone else.
Sending RSVP reminders
When people haven't responded, open Manage Attendees and click Send reminder in the Invited group. Everyone still marked Invited who has an email address gets a reminder — including your RSVP deadline if you've set one. People without an account yet get their personal invite link, so they can join in one click.
Emergency contacts never get reminders.
Inviting friends to AdventureForge
The Invite a friend box on the dashboard invites someone to try AdventureForge in general. It doesn't add them to any trip — use the steps above for that.
