What is AdventureForge?
A quick tour of how AdventureForge helps groups plan outdoor trips together.
AdventureForge is a shared planning space for group trips — hikes, climbing weekends, paddling trips, ski tours, expeditions. Instead of a group chat, three spreadsheets and a shared doc, everything for one trip lives on one adventure page that the whole group can see and help with.
How it works
- The organiser creates an adventure — a name, dates, location and a cover photo. See Setting up an adventure.
- They share it. Paste the adventure link into your group chat, or invite people by email. See Inviting people.
- People join and RSVP. Each person says whether they're Going, Maybe or Can't go. See Joining from an invite or link.
- Everyone plans together. People who are going can add to the itinerary, meals, transport, gear, tasks and costs. Everyone can talk in the discussion.
- Take it with you. Download a trip pack PDF with the whole plan for when you're out of signal.
What's in an adventure
| Section | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Overview | Trip details, who's going, the trip brief, useful links and the group discussion |
| Itinerary | A day-by-day plan, plus a list of ideas you haven't scheduled yet |
| Meals | Who's cooking what, ingredients, and a combined shopping list |
| Transport | Cars, drivers and seats, there and back |
| Gear | Shared group kit, plus your own private packing list |
| Tasks | Bookings, permits and anything else that needs doing |
| Costs | Shared expenses and who owes whom |
| Map | GPX routes and markers for camps, water and hazards |
The organiser can switch off any section the trip doesn't need — see Adventure settings & sections.
Who's who
- The organiser (shown in the app as the owner) created the adventure and controls its settings. Each adventure has one organiser.
- Attendees are the people on the trip. Once they've said they're Going, they can edit the plan.
- Emergency contacts are people back home who can see the plan but aren't on the trip.
