FAQ & troubleshooting

Quick answers to the questions people ask most.

Joining and access

The adventure isn't public, so you need an account to see it. Sign in, or click Sign up to create a free account — you'll be brought back to the adventure afterwards. See Joining from an invite or link.

I've signed up but I can't see the adventure

Open the adventure link again while you're signed in. Depending on the organiser's settings you'll either be added straight away, see an Ask to join button, or see that the trip is invite only. See Joining from an invite or link.

It says "This adventure is invite only"

The organiser has chosen to add people themselves. Ask them to invite you by email — make sure they use the same email address as your AdventureForge account.

I asked to join but haven't heard back

The organiser was emailed when you asked. Approval is up to them — give them a nudge in your group chat. You'll get an email as soon as you're approved.

I'm being asked for an adventure password

Adventure passwords have been removed, so you shouldn't see a password prompt on an adventure any more. If you're on the sign-in page, that's your account password — or use magic link to sign in without one. See What happened to adventure passwords?

Invite links work once. If you claimed it, just sign in and open the adventure from your dashboard. If you didn't, someone else used it — ask the organiser to remove that member and invite you again.

I didn't get the email

Check your spam or promotions folder for mail from noreply@adventureforge.io. Confirmation, magic link and invite emails can take a minute or two. If it still hasn't arrived, try again, or ask the organiser to check they used the right email address.

Planning

Why can't I edit anything?

Only people who've RSVP'd Going (and the organiser) can change the plan. Set your RSVP to Going — see RSVPing. Emergency contacts can never edit.

A section is missing

The organiser has switched it off for this trip. See Turning sections on and off.

Why can't I add someone to a cost split or task?

They need an AdventureForge account first. Ask them to join using the adventure link or their invite email. People who've said Can't Go aren't included in cost splits either.

Can I log an expense someone else paid for?

Not yet — expenses are recorded against whoever adds them. Ask the person who paid to add it. See Costs & settling up.

For organisers

Can someone else be an organiser too?

Each adventure has one organiser at the moment, and it can't be transferred. A co-leader who RSVPs Going can edit nearly everything in the plan; only settings and managing members stay with you. See Roles & permissions.

Set Who can join? to Ask to join (you approve each person) or Invite only.

I removed someone but they're back

With Who can join? set to Anyone with the link, a removed person can rejoin by opening the link. Switch to Ask to join or Invite only, then remove them again.

Someone's listed twice

This usually happens when someone was added by name without an email address, then joined using the link. Remove the entry without an account. Next time, always add an email when inviting someone.

Can I bring back a deleted adventure?

No — deleting is permanent. If you might need a trip later, archive it instead.
